Having gotten through the mess of headaches and hoops I had to jump through with the new desktop machine so that it's now all bright and shiney and mine and running beautifully...

I farked the laptop.

Ah well that's just gonna have to wait - neither James nor I have the time right now to get into another sticky computer mess.

Edit: My husband james_b is a genius, (and his trusty side kick yours truly ain't a sloth either), and fdisk /mbr is my friend.

Laptop restored to Toshiba factory defaults.
